In late 2018 the FoD Post team had a few brainstorming meets with the FoD Social team and somehow Trump Driver was discussed — the idea to take one of his rambling incoherent speeches that go nowhere and turn him into an uncomfortable Uber driver that you can’t get to stop talking during your ride, really shower you with as much of verbatim verbal diarrhea. Ben Rosen wrote the scripts while we both researched direct quotes from public Presidential records and news transcripts. We’d grab someone from our department(s) to lend some VO and then I’d direct/edit a simple animatic with scratch track, and after approval I would animate — which consisted of me building, lighting, timing, blocking, etc, every episode. The rig was built with After Effects and specifically the plugin Element 3D. Each part of the face rig was hand-drawn and dozens of layers deep all controlled by sliders for keyframing and movement. Six episodes this way were made in total and it was incredible we had some huge numbers on social media, no one has ever seen numbers like that in the history of this country, I had men coming up to me with tears in their eyes saying, ‘Sir we have never seen a webseries like this before,” and these were big strong beautiful men
